The Shift Interlock System is designed to ensure proper operation of the automatic transmission. It consists of brake transmission shift interlock switch, automatic transmission lock control actuator solenoid, hatch release relay, powertrain control module, and park/neutral position switch. The driver must depress the brake pedal in order to move the gear selector from Park to any gear range.
