Yamaha DT 125 is driven by a 123 cc air-cooled, Single, 2-stroke, Reed valve engine combined with 6-speed manual transmission system generating 12.92 kW (17.33 hp) power at 7,000 rpm and 105 km/h (65 mph) top speed. It debuted in 1968 as a successor of Yamaha DT-1. The following schematic shows the Yamaha DT 125 CDI Wiring and Circuit Diagram. The circuit can be used on other existing AC-cdi (Capacitive Discharge Ignition) motorcycle, as long as there is a high voltage generator on the stator.

Hi, I need help in getting more performance from my 125cc engine. Now it has only 4,2kilowatts, motorcycle reaches only 80km/h at 7000rpm. Free engine reaches 10000rpm. Thought it was CDI, so I replaced it with ‘Performance CDI’ (blue, in aluminum box) however the engine’s performance with it was even worse… So I started to measure voltages between different cables and it was unexpected: the high AC voltage from generator (80V) starts to drop when give some throttle and drops until the RPM reaches the limit. At ~8000rpm the voltage drops to 35V.
And what I need is – am I right thinking that this voltage shouldn’t drop? If yes, then, what maximum voltage should the CDI unit get?
Thanks in advance :)

Hi, my DT125LC MK1 same problem, only can reach 80km/h. I have
replacef a new pick-up coil, exciter coil & ignition coil but still the same.
My CDI output is about 0.25VDC(-ve)/1.5VAC when using a Multimeter to measure. I even swap the CDI with other bike, but same problem.

Hi,
I own Yamaha DT 175 of year 2001.
I always experiecing engine mis-firing during raining with wet road, that means I can not ride at all during rain season.
My Yamaha DT 175 has a CDI similar to the one shown above, kindly advise how I can overcome such a problem and continue enjoying pleasant ride.
Thank you in advance,
Distazo.
