The Matiz was originally launched with just a 0.8 L 3-cylinder engine. It was produced by the South Korean automaker GM Daewoo since 1998. The following schematic diagram shows the 2003 Daewoo Matiz SOHC Engine Timing Belt and Pulley. The timing belt connects the camshaft timing pulley (w) and the crankshaft timing pulley (x). The timing belt coordinates the crankshaft and the camshaft and keeps them synchronized.
The timing belt also turns the coolant pump (y). The timing belt and the pulleys are toothed so that there is no slippage between them. There is a tension pulley (z) that maintains the correct timing belt
w. camshaft timing pulley
x. crankshaft timing pulley
y. coolant pump
z. tension pulley
