Honda CB400 and CB450 Wiring Diagram and Electrical Schematics The following electrical and schematics applies for Honda CB400 and CB450 motorcycle series 1978 – 1987 models. The electrical system includes the following systems: Charging System, Ignition System, Lighting System, Turn Signals, Horn, and . The charging system consists of battery, alternator and voltage regulator/rectifier. The alternator generates an alternating current (AC) which the rectifier converts to direct current (DC). The regulator maintains the voltage to the battery and load (lights, ignition, etc) at a constant voltage regardless of variation in engine speed and load.

An alternator is a form of electrical generator in which a magnetized field called rotor revolves within a set of stationary coils called a stator. As the rotor revolves, alternating current is induced in a stator. The current is then rectified and used to operate electrical accessories on the motorcycle.
